Minister of Culture attended the International Day of Non-Violence

     Minister of Culture, H.E Mr. Itthiphol Kunplome, attended the commemoration of the International Day of Non-Violence as Chief Guest, along with Ambassador of the Republic of India, H.E. Mrs. Suchitra Durai, and the Executive Secretary of UNESCAP, H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, on October 4th, 2021, at 10.00 hours, at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC), Bangkok.

       The commemoration is the result of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution declaring October 2nd, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, as the International Day of Non-Violence. This year’s commemoration highlights the prominence of the celebration of the Republic of India’s 75 years of independence and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and India in 2022 as well.

       During the event, the Minister of Culture paid a floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and shared the opening remarks to raise awareness of the universal principle of non-violence and the desire to maintain a world culture of peace.
